Crunchyroll
10th Annual Anime Awards
HAUS had already worked with Crunchyroll on rebranding the Anime Awards for their 10th Anniversary when we were asked to also build a motion toolkit for the ceremony itself. I oversaw the motion work and handled the 3D aspects of the toolkit. The toolkit had to be built out at both 23.976 and 29.97 frames per second. As a finishing touch, I used expressions to rig everything up in After Effects for ease of use and to maintain consistency throughout the toolkit.
Angus created the title treatment animation here and I created the background particles using Cinema 4D.
I created the particle and ribbon animations using Cinema 4D and X-Particles.
Angus created the gradient animations in After Effects.
I created the particle animations for the lower thirds in Cinema 4D and X-Particles. Within After Effects, I rigged the backgrounds to auto-resize to the longest line of text.
We needed to create these awards headers to accommodate both English and Japanese copy.
Through expressions, I made it so that all of our animation could be easily flipped to either side of screen while maintaining consistent spacing and alignment.
